Samuel Freeman
sfreem17@utk.edu
Samuel Freeman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was raised in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for most of his life. Having a heavy musical upbringing, Samuel started experimenting and composing his sophomore year in high school--resulting in two of his pieces being performed in a solo and ensemble competition. He feels that writing music is a perfect outlet in expressing himself, finding inspiration in anything from Asian cultures to 1960's art. His passion for music gave him the opportunity to lead Pigeon Forge High School's award winning marching band for two years, winning "Champion Drum Major" four times. He recently began studying with Dr. Kenneth A. Jacobs in the fall of 2009, and is still finding his unique style. Samuel also marches the alto saxophone in the Pride of the Southland Band.
