Music Composition Studio

Sam Lewis

Sam Lewis is a composer and guitarist originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee. He began playing the guitar at age 11 and thus embarked upon a winding and never-certain musical path. He received a bachelor’s degree from the Berklee College of Music in 2007 where he studied composition and film scoring. Since that time he has been composing and pursuing a variety of independent studies. His works include pieces for solo guitar, string quartet, mixed ensembles, brass choir and full orchestra. Inspired by the soundscape studies and “environmental” compositions of Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer, he is currently endeavoring not only to bring elements of the natural world into the concert hall, but also to bring music out into the natural world. Sam, together with his wife and cat, now lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.
