Music Composition Studio

Nick Powell

Nick was born in Burlington, TN to a musical family. His mother played french horn and his father guitar. He began playing with piano at an early age and made his first attempts at arranging music at nine years old. By twelve, he began taking piano seriously and composing for amateur video game soundtracks. He learned orchestration from reading college textbooks, and has been associated with over thirty video game soundtracks and numerous other projects. After having spent half his academic life homeschooling, he enrolled at and spent three years in Pellissippi State Technical Community College. There, he played piano for three honors recitals and has written music for various performances (including three pieces for the choirs). He has enrolled at the University of Tennessee to study under Dr. Jacobs. His influences are John Williams, Sergei Prokofiev, David Arnold, James Newton Howard, and Jeremy Soule.
