Nicholas McReynolds was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, so, naturally he chose to attend UT. When he was 12 years old, his interests in music were born in middle school band playing percussion. He continued to be a part of the percussion programs in both middle and high school where he was the drum captain of the Bearden High School Marching Band. Once he got to UT, though, he strayed away from music to look for something else to pursue as a career. After a semester of disappointment, he was back into music. He grew fond of the theory behind music and began practicing it outside of class, and then he realized what he wanted to do. He jumped straight into studying composition with Dr. Jacobs, and has fallen in love with composing. A few of his favorite composers are Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Copland, and of course, John Williams.
