A native of Indiana, composer Kenneth A. Jacobs was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He has received an International New Music Composers Award, Bergen Festival Award, City College of New York Electro-Acoustic Prize, the Brown University Choral Prize, Tennessee Orchestral Prize, prizes from the Tennessee and Texas Music Educators Associations, and a Phi Kappa Phi Outstanding Artist Award. Kenneth Jacobs' music has been played across Europe and North and South America.

Recent performances have occurred in fifteen states (including performances at Rice University and Indiana University) and at Trinity College of Music in Dublin, Ireland and the College Music Society International Symposium in Madrid, Spain. Composer of music for solo, chamber, orchestral, vocal, choral, and electronic media, he has toured extensively with a dozen multimedia works featuring his artwork and photography coupled with synthesized music, and these works soon will be released on DVD.

He directs the composition program at the University of Tennessee and is published by Boosey and Hawkes, Seesaw Music, and North / South Editions. Fifteen solo compact discs of his music have been released on the Opus One, Impact, and Zyode labels, and are available on Amazon.com.

Option Magazine says: "His style is easy on the ears, demonstrating that tonality, electronics, and experimentation need not be mutually exclusive-brilliant writing." Keyboard Magazine praises "a charming CD... delicately colored, intimate textures... exotic, sensual flavor." Musical America describes a "tour de force... a sumptuous feast... a provocative musical and visual experience... all the skill and patience of a medieval miniaturist... A virtuoso display... also readily accessible, with kaleidoscopic textures and rich harmonies... monumental, almost frozen melodies... compelling and accessible musical language." The Washington Post says "fascinating... aural appeal... intriguing", and American Record Guide describes "a sense of melody that seems to trace lines in an infinite variety of shapes... This tone painting makes the piece work so well... Overall, this album presents Mr. Jacobs as a composer more interested in communication, mood, and style than in the complexities of 'academic' music. It is music of a deceptive kind-seemingly simple and accessible, but created with consummate skill."
