Music Composition Studio

J. Burton Black



J. Burton Black is a retired Indiana businessman and former Knoxville resident who now lives in Dallas, Texas. He is currently a composition student of Kenneth Jacobs and previously studied with Walter Hartley and Donald Bohlen. Mr. Black has a keen interest in choral music, both as singer and composer. He has sung with the Dallas Symphony Chorus, the Knoxville Choral Society, the Nashville Symphony Chorus, the Bloomington Chamber Singers, and the Interlochen and Berkshire Festival Choruses. His sacred choral music has been performed at the University of Tennessee as well as churches in Texas, Kentucky, and Indiana. His "Six Bagatelles for Piano" was played at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church (Dallas) as part of its annual chamber music concert series.
